Duties and Responsibilities:
Description of Duties:
40% Maintenance and janitorial services of buildings
Responsible for knowledge of proper operation and use of all equipment necessary for the upkeep of the buildings and grounds i.
e.
grounds equipment such as lawnmowers and chainsaws; vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners and small hand tools.
Maintain restrooms and restroom facilities in proper working order to include minor repairs i.
e.
repairing/replacing faucets, valves, traps, misc.
door and paper holding hardware.
Perform maintenance on interior and exterior light fixtures to include changing bulbs.
Maintain building to include painting of walls and replacement of ceiling tile.
Move furniture and equipment as required supporting institutional requirements.
Responsible for knowledge of proper safety practices of chemicals used.
Janitorial cleaning services of the building; i.
e.
cleaning, mopping, stripping & waxing of floors, cleaning and shampooing of carpets and general room cleaning.
Clean sinks, toilets and floors.
Collect and dispose of solid waste.
30% Maintenance of grounds, driveways and facility equipment
Perform grounds maintenance; i.
e.
grass cutting, chemical spraying of grass and ants, tree trimming, driveway maintenance, etc.
Check and clean drainage system.
Clean parking lots, driveways and grounds to include trash and leaf removal, repainting of lines and symbols.
30% Perform basic level repairs and preventive maintenance
Perform preventive maintenance on air conditioning units and air handlers; i.
e.
changes filters, cleans vents, and changes or adjusts belts.
Perform basic repairs to cleaning equipment such as changing belts on vacuums and belts, plugs, basic operator preventive maintenance on lawn and power tools.
Operates forklift.
Performs other duties or assignments as directed by management.
ADA Guidelines:
Must be able to read and follow written instructions and assembly instructions.
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs; i.
e.
moving file cabinets or desks and up to 50 lbs i.
e.
moving cases of copy machine paper or computers on a routine basis.
Must be able to bend over and squat on a routine basis; i.
e.
picking up paper or painting base boards.
Must be able to stand and be on feet for long periods of time.
Must be able to climb and work off of ladders and scaffolds.
Must have valid Louisiana driver’s license and clean driving record.
Must be available to work various shift schedules.
Required Experience: One year of experience in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or as a parks building and grounds attendant.
Passing pre-employment criminal background screen is required as a condition of employment.
